Hybrid Head is a shooting head. Hybrid Heads are meant to be used with Hybrid Tips. The tips are sold separately, and the head won't work properly without a tip. As it is a shooting head, the Hybrid Head also needs a separately sold running line. The wide range of lengths and densities of tips give anglers the opportunity to construct the kind of head they want.
Choosing the right Hybrid fly line is simple. Firstly, choose your style: Scandi; Skagit; Switch, or Single Handed. Then select the belly weight recommendation for your selected style and fly rod rating. Lastly, your Hybrid line needs a tip – these are sold separately and can be found here. Simply select the correct length for your casting style and the required density, and you are ready to go! Check out our head and tip weight chart for exact weights in grams.
Here are our recommendations for different styles.
Single Handed & Switch Rods: We recommend 10’ Hybrid Tips. Skagit-Style Casting: We recommend 12.5’ Hybrid Tips or Ace Tips. Scandi-Style Casting: We recommend 15’ Hybrid Tips. Long Scandi Line: We recommend 20’ Hybrid Tips for long casts.
