Warranty & Service

Guide FlyFishing Limited operate warranty and repairs on behalf of Sage for the UK, Republic of Ireland and Scandinavia only. For all other countries, please contact Sage directly.

Every new purchased Sage rod, blank or Sage series reel is covered by our lifetime, original owner warranty. (Charges apply, see below)

Sage reserves the right to determine whether to repair or replace any Sage product covered by this warranty and the right to replace any discontinued models with comparable models when necessary. Colours and components may vary between original and replacement parts.

What is covered?

This warranty is limited to repair and replacement of the rod, blank or reel and does not cover direct, indirect, consequential, incidental or any other type of damage resulting from the use of the product. This warranty does not cover fire, theft, missing rod sections, intentional breakage, modification or customization of the finished rod, or damage during the assembly of a blank into a finished rod. Warranty coverage on Sage blanks does not extend to any custom work or components added to the blanks.

Which rods does it apply to?

The lifetime, original owner warranty applies to rods with a serial # beginning with the letter “M” and higher, including all double letters (i.e. AA, AB, and AC). Rods with serial #’s beginning with the single letters “A – L” (generally manufactured prior to 1995); have an original owner lifetime guarantee against any defect in materials or workmanship. Any of these series of rods that fail due to misuse, negligence or normal wear-and-tear will be repaired or replaced at a reasonable cost. The serial # may be found on the rod directly opposite the Sage logo.

Please note: Sage blanks are not serialised. Warranty coverage on rods built from Sage blanks is limited to the blank only.

How do I find my Sage serial number?

The serial number is located on the butt section opposite the Sage logo. Serial numbers can be especially difficult to find on black rods. If you are having difficulty finding the serial, please type N/A in the serial number field, and our team will find and enter it for you when we receive the repair. (Please note that Sage blanks do not have serial numbers. An example of the blank section will have the Sage logo and the model with size followed with a “B” for blank)

How much does it cost?

The current charges for Sage repairs start from £45.

Guide FlyFishing Limited reserves the right to alter the warranty charges without notice. Charges include insured delivery and VAT.

How long will my repair take?

Many factors contribute to repair timeframes for individual rods, including brand, model, and location of breakage, as well as seasonal demands on our repairs team.

Because Sage rods are hand-made in the United States on Bainbridge Island, and each rod section is individually hand-fit to their adjoining sections, their repair times vary between models and location of breakage. For example, a current Sage production model with a broken tip section may only take a couple weeks to complete and be out the door back to the customer. On the other hand, a legacy spey rod with a broken butt section can take much longer as that requires more labour to not only manufacture a new graphite butt section using original materials but then apply and shape cork handles, install reel seat components, and finally wrap guides, and coat and fit the new blank section.

Additionally, our repair team may experience seasonal demands that may affect repair timeframes. Following the summer and again heading into the spring, our repair team experiences high incoming repair volume. These high volumes can delay the process as rods may wait a bit longer to reach our assessment queue that begins their repair journey in earnest.
